PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officially started his duties today.
Zahid, who wore an all-black suit, was greeted by Chief Secretary Mohd Zuki Ali upon arriving at the Perdana Putra Complex compound at 8am.
He then scanned the time recorder card in his office on Level 4 before confirming the prayer led by the Assistant Islamic Affairs Officer of the Prime Minister’s Department Kamruzaman Abdul Aziz.
The Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk then entered his office and signed the Welcome Book.
Last Friday, Zahid, 69, was announced as the deputy prime minister who also holds the rural and regional development portfolio in Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet of Ministers.
He is also scheduled to attend the first special Cabinet meeting chaired by the prime minister today.
